Kickstarter Launches Park Smarts for Kids Board Game 348% Funded With 11 Days To Go
Park Smarts Adventures for Kids, a series of table top board games on US National Parks, has achieved more than 300% of its initial crowd funding target in just the first two days of its launch on Kickstarter.
Each game in the series is specific to individual parks. The first two games in the series are Yellowstone National Park and Grand Canyon National Park. Ultimately, the series will publish games on more than 100 parks and monuments.
The games are published by Park Smarts for Kids, LLC, located in the Phoenix, AZ, area. The company also has a book publishing division. Dodie Long, CEO and chief creator of the games, together with journalist husband Ron Long, has extensive experience working with the parks after having been CEO of a 50 year old National Parks publisher of photography text books. The firm’s children’s’ activity books have been sold by many of the parks since its launch in 2013. It currently has 22 titles, each one site specific to individual parks.
Game creator, Dodie Long said, “Park fans can be a part of teaching our children about our precious National Parks. Our children and their children’s children will be inheriting these awe-inspiring lands. Help them learn in unique ways to appreciate the magnificent beauty of these lands and why they should treasure and preserve them. Teach them to protect these lands for all of the enjoyment of the people having tons of educational family fun doing so!”
Park Smarts Adventures games will be sold in the various park visitor centers as are the Park Smarts for Kids activity books. Game distribution also will be accomplished via concessionaires in retail outlets in communities near the parks. They will be sold through the larger “big box” retailers nationally as well.
One of the unique features of the games is that the game pieces and boards are magnetic so families can play them on the go such as in an RV or family vehicle without having the pieces slide off the board.
The games will be introduced to National Park buyers at the Public Lands Alliance National Convention & Trade Show in Palm Springs, CA, in February 2018.
As a part of the campaign, park enthusiasts are able to donate on the Kickstarter site to have board games go to a local school, day care center, hospitals or any organization of their choice in the Phoenix area and the Park Smarts Adventures staff will deliver their donation for free.
